歷史沿革
最早的(de)城(cheng)隍廟見于三國吳赤烏二(er)年(239)建的(de)蕪(wu)湖城(cheng)隍廟。歷史上有(you)唐人張說、
李德(de)裕、李陽冰、杜(du)牧等(deng)(deng)祭祀(si)城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)神(shen)的文獻記載(zai)。宋代以后(hou),城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)開始(shi)人(ren)格化(hua)、多以去(qu)世后(hou)的英(ying)雄(xiong)(xiong)(xiong)或名臣奉為(wei)(wei)城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)神(shen),如蘇(su)州祀(si)戰國時(shi)春申君黃歇,上海祀(si)秦裕伯(bo),北(bei)京(jing)祀(si)文天祥、楊(yang)椒山,杭州祀(si)周新,會稽祀(si)龐王(wang),南寧、桂(gui)林祀(si)蘇(su)緘等(deng)(deng)。后(hou)唐末帝清(qing)泰元(yuan)(yuan)年(nian)(934)封(feng)(feng)(feng)城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)為(wei)(wei)王(wang)爵。明太(tai)祖洪(hong)武元(yuan)(yuan)年(nian)(1368)則下(xia)旨(zhi)封(feng)(feng)(feng)開封(feng)(feng)(feng)、臨濠(hao)、束和、平滁四城(cheng)(cheng)的城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)為(wei)(wei)王(wang),職(zhi)(zhi)位(wei)(wei)正(zheng)一品,與人(ren)間的太(tai)師、太(tai)傅、太(tai)保“三公(gong)(gong)”和左、右丞相平級(ji),又封(feng)(feng)(feng)各府、州、縣城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)為(wei)(wei)公(gong)(gong)、侯(hou)、伯(bo),即(ji)府城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)為(wei)(wei)監(jian)察司氏(shi)城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)威靈公(gong)(gong),職(zhi)(zhi)位(wei)(wei)正(zheng)二品;州城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)為(wei)(wei)監(jian)察司氏(shi)城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)顯(xian)佑侯(hou),職(zhi)(zhi)位(wei)(wei)正(zheng)三品;縣城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)為(wei)(wei)監(jian)察司氏(shi)城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)顯(xian)佑伯(bo),職(zhi)(zhi)位(wei)(wei)正(zheng)四品,并(bing)且重建(jian)各地城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)廟(miao),規模高廣(guang)與當地官署衙(ya)門(men)完全一樣,還按(an)級(ji)別(bie)配制冕旒哀服。明太(tai)祖洪(hong)武三年(nian)(1370)正(zheng)祀(si)典(dian),詔去(qu)封(feng)(feng)(feng)號(hao),只稱“某(mou)府或某(mou)縣城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)之神(shen),又令各地城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)廟(miao)不得雜祀(si)其(qi)他之神(shen)。據說明太(tai)祖朱元(yuan)(yuan)璋(zhang)出生(sheng)在土(tu)地廟(miao)里,所以他對土(tu)地廟(miao)以及土(tu)地的“上司”城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)極為(wei)(wei)崇敬(jing)。明孝宗年(nian)間(1488—1506),莆田抗元(yuan)(yuan)英(ying)雄(xiong)(xiong)(xiong)陳文龍(1232—1277)被封(feng)(feng)(feng)為(wei)(wei)福州城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)爺,其(qi)從(cong)叔(shu)抗元(yuan)(yuan)英(ying)雄(xiong)(xiong)(xiong)陳瓚(1232—1277)被封(feng)(feng)(feng)為(wei)(wei)興(xing)化(hua)府城(cheng)(cheng)隍(huang)(huang)(huang)(huang)爺。
在原(yuan)莆田(tian)(tian)縣內,有創建于明洪(hong)武(wu)二年(nian)(1369),位(wei)于城內長壽街廟前巷的興化府城隍廟,由照墻、外埕、大(da)門(men)、甬道、儀(yi)門(men)、中門(men)、正殿、后殿及兩廂護厝等組(zu)成,占地面(mian)積24畝(一說18畝),與(yu)興化府衙(ya),莆田(tian)(tian)縣衙(ya)一樣大(da),為莆田(tian)(tian)五大(da)宮廟之(zhi)一;主祀城隍大(da)神陳瓚,俗稱城隍爺。該廟現為福建省級重點(dian)文物保(bao)護單位(wei)。
歷史文化
這是(shi)(shi)(shi)一(yi)(yi)座典型的(de)漢(han)式寺(si)(si)廟(miao),格局簡煉。一(yi)(yi)如(ru)隨意(yi)散落在(zai)江南某(mou)個小鎮的(de)庵(an)院廟(miao)堂(tang),但是(shi)(shi)(shi)稍加留意(yi)便可(ke)看出這座寺(si)(si)廟(miao)的(de)氣(qi)度與眾不同(tong)。首先(xian)廟(miao)前高懸的(de)道(dao)(dao)幡說明這是(shi)(shi)(shi)一(yi)(yi)座道(dao)(dao)教寺(si)(si)廟(miao),這在(zai)熱(re)河街(jie)上可(ke)謂鳳毛麟角。遍布(bu)避(bi)暑山莊周圍的(de)多為藏傳佛教寺(si)(si)廟(miao),而修建這樣一(yi)(yi)座道(dao)(dao)教寺(si)(si)廟(miao)則(ze)是(shi)(shi)(shi)出于對漢(han)族(zu)群(qun)眾宗教信仰的(de)尊重,同(tong)時由乾隆欽定“熱(re)河都城隍廟(miao)”似可(ke)說明古熱(re)河在(zai)當(dang)時社(she)會的(de)政治地位。

城隍,起(qi)源于古代的(de)水(隍)庸(yong)(城)的(de)祭祀,為(wei)《周宮》八神(shen)之(zhi)一。“城”原指挖土(tu)筑的(de)高(gao)(gao)墻,“隍”原指沒(mei)有(you)水的(de)護(hu)(hu)城壕。古人(ren)(ren)造城是(shi)(shi)為(wei)了保護(hu)(hu)城內(nei)百姓的(de)安(an)全,所以(yi)修了高(gao)(gao)大的(de)城墻、城樓、城門以(yi)及(ji)壕城、護(hu)(hu)城河。他們認為(wei)與(yu)人(ren)(ren)們的(de)生(sheng)活、生(sheng)產安(an)全密切相關的(de)事物,都(dou)有(you)神(shen)在,于是(shi)(shi)城和(he)隍被神(shen)化為(wei)城市的(de)保護(hu)(hu)神(shen)。道教把(ba)它納入(ru)自己的(de)神(shen)系,稱它是(shi)(shi)剪除兇(xiong)惡、保國護(hu)(hu)邦之(zhi)神(shen),并(bing)管領陰間的(de)亡(wang)魂。

特色
城隍廟現為承德市(shi)為數不多的一(yi)家道(dao)教(jiao)(jiao)寺廟,風格有(you)別于(yu)外八廟,很值得一(yi)看。這里(li)每(mei)日上午9:00-10:00有(you)道(dao)教(jiao)(jiao)法事(shi)活動(dong),且每(mei)逢(feng)重(zhong)大道(dao)教(jiao)(jiao)節(jie)日,必(bi)舉行道(dao)教(jiao)(jiao)法會慶賀(he)。
旅游交通
城(cheng)隍廟位于西大(da)街路(lu)北,出避暑山(shan)莊沿(yan)麗正門(men)大(da)街西行至火神廟處,右轉上(shang)西大(da)街再(zai)走(zou)約1公里。也可乘5路(lu)、7路(lu)公交(jiao)車(che)(che)到中醫院(yuan)下車(che)(che)即到,乘小公共汽車(che)(che)或打車(che)(che)更為(wei)方(fang)便。
