新街邊男孩(New Kids On The Block)是(shi)男孩(hai)團(tuan)體(ti)（Boyband）的(de)(de)始祖。他(ta)(ta)們是(shi)被制(zhi)作(zuo)人兼(jian)作(zuo)曲家Maurice Starr發掘的(de)(de)，希(xi)望他(ta)(ta)們能(neng)夠(gou)載歌載舞(wu)地表演自(zi)己撰寫的(de)(de)一(yi)些(xie)饒舌歌曲。Maurice Starr在(zai)1983年成功地將同樣是(shi)來(lai)自(zi)波斯頓的(de)(de)黑人五人組合"New Edition"推出音樂(le)市(shi)場。兩年后針對(dui)音樂(le)市(shi)場上(shang)占絕對(dui)比重的(de)(de)白人而(er)設計的(de)(de)組合就是(shi)新(xin)街邊男孩(hai)。就像他(ta)(ta)所希(xi)望的(de)(de)一(yi)樣在(zai)商業方(fang)面(mian)新(xin)街邊男孩(hai)遠(yuan)遠(yuan)超(chao)過了New Edition。他(ta)(ta)們活力十足，外貌討(tao)喜。
當(dang)時組合(he)中年紀(ji)最(zui)小的(de)(de)(de)Joey McIntyre才14歲(sui)，而年紀(ji)最(zui)長的(de)(de)(de)Jonathan Knight也才18歲(sui)。關于Joey McIntyre的(de)(de)(de)加入(ru)，其中還頗有一(yi)(yi)段插(cha)曲。當(dang)時新街邊(bian)男孩連(lian)第一(yi)(yi)張唱片還沒出，就發生其中一(yi)(yi)個團員因(yin)為過量酗酒被開除的(de)(de)(de)插(cha)曲。隨后才找(zhao)來(lai)Joey Mcintyre替補，成為五人之中最(zui)年輕的(de)(de)(de)一(yi)(yi)員。

1986年發行(xing)(xing)第一張(zhang)(zhang)同(tong)名(ming)專(zhuan)(zhuan)輯(ji)，在(zai)16歲以下(xia)白人女(nv)孩(hai)中受(shou)到了狂熱追捧，可惜并沒(mei)有引起(qi)太多注意。1988年推(tui)出(chu)以Joey主唱(chang)的單(dan)曲"Please Don’t Go Girl"才打開組合(he)的知(zhi)名(ming)度(du)。同(tong)年，第二張(zhang)(zhang)專(zhuan)(zhuan)輯(ji)《Hangin’ Tough》發行(xing)(xing)，專(zhuan)(zhuan)輯(ji)大受(shou)歡迎，并憑借(jie)此專(zhuan)(zhuan)輯(ji)擠進Billboard排行(xing)(xing)榜，這張(zhang)(zhang)專(zhuan)(zhuan)輯(ji)一共賣出(chu)了800萬(wan)張(zhang)(zhang)。開始他(ta)們大放異彩的星路。

2008年年初新(xin)街(jie)邊(bian)男孩宣(xuan)布重組并在7月18日推出了新(xin)單曲《Summertime》，取得榜單36名的好(hao)成(cheng)績。
2008年9月2日曾經紅極一時的新街邊男(nan)孩時隔14年推出(chu)了新專輯(ji)《The Block》，在該專輯(ji)中與Ne-Yo、The Pussycat Dolls、Akon等多名當紅歌手和組(zu)合進行了合作。
